Questions

What’s your favorite genre?

I read books from every genre but I always end up returning to…YA FANTASY. I can’t help it! I love it!

Who is your favorite author from the genre?

Oh wow, this is a really tough question to answer and it could change with every book I read but I think I’m going to have to go with…Leigh Bardugo!

What is it about the genre that keeps pulling you back?

Oh everything! In fantasy there are infinite worlds to discover! I’ve escaped to hundreds of lands, delved into an array of experiences, lived beside a wide smattering of characters… In fantasy anything can happen. Anything! Sometimes that leads to some very dark paths but other times you’re saving the world, exploring magic, communicating with mythical creatures, and basically having a much more exciting time than sitting at home scrolling through Facebook 😜

Flick Grimoire Saga

What’s the book that started your love for your favorite genre?

I would say it’s the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling that sealed the deal and turned me into a total Potterhead and bookworm, but technically I read the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis first. My dad would read them to me at bedtime until I was old enough to take over and I’ve read them several times since! I don’t know if I could choose between the two worlds if given the choice!

If you had to recommend at least one book from your favorite genre to a non-reader/someone looking to start reading the genre, what would you choose and why?

OH THIS IS SO HARD!!!
In reality I’d try and choose something that I think would suit their personality (e.g. Do they like cute romances? Do they like dark gritty tales? Do they like history? Would they be open to high fantasy or should they start out slow with something a bit more familiar? How old are they?)
Okay…I think for the purpose of this post I’m going to go with…Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo because it has a bit of everything but it’s not too heavy on the whimsy magic & the fantastical. Despite its fantasy setting there’s always a bit that feels vaguely familiar. Plus it’s really awesome. 😎

Why do you read?

I’ve always been a reader according to my mom. As a little kid the books had pictures but even when I grew old enough to read books without them the pictures never stopped forming in my mind. When I read, I see it and I feel it (if it’s a good book anyway). I’ve always had a big imagination and books are the perfect place to let it go wild! Movies tell/show you nearly everything, and in this reality I have no magical powers of my own to cause chaos, so instead I read books! 💕

I tag…

I’m going to open this up to any of my readers. Be sure to tag me in your post or comment below because I’d love to read about your own favorite genre!  😄

  1. Great answers for this tag, and yay another person with YA fantasy as their favourite genre! 😀
Leigh Bardugo is an incredible author, definitely one of my favourites as well. Wow I’m kind of jealous you got to meet her too; she was in London a while back and I missed going to see her so I’m hoping she comes back one day soon. 🙂
I love the Six of Crows duology. It’s just incredible isn’t it?
Again great answers for this tag, I really loved reading your post. 🙂 ❤
