Did you hear?? It’s been officially announced that Stephenie Meyer will be releasing Midnight Sun, a Twilight book from Edward Cullen’s POV! It’s been 12 years of waiting and at last our hopes have been fulfilled!
If you were around way back during Twilight‘s initial debut into the world and got sucked into the whirlwind of sequential releases then you’ll remember the big debacle when a partial draft of Midnight Sun was leaked. Understandably upset, Meyer released that partial draft to keep the curious away from those disgusting pirating sites and then shut down the publication of the book altogether (a truly devastating blow to the fandom I assure you). I admit I was a major fan back then so of course curiosity had me reading it and honestly it just increased the torture because now I’d read a sample of what I may never receive. UGH. Even as I eventually grew out of Twilight and slowly even YA books in general, I’ve still had this book pop up in my mind from time to time and I would wonder What if? WELL NOW I MAY KNOW!! (If there are any ARCs available then may I take this opportunity to jump up and down wildly with my hand raised? haha)
I am ready to pre-order a copy and absolutely cannot wait to revert to my 13-year old self and dive into this book come August. My old friends and I are planning on getting together via video chat to do a buddy read/commentary/discussion of the series before Midnight Sun comes out! Regardless of what I think about the books (and oddly it’s one of those series where one day I’ll still love it and the next I’m rolling my eyes and tossing it aside but nevertheless I think about it all the time) I’m weirdly excited to return to Meyer’s world of high school and vampires. Anyone else ready to step back in time and return to the fandom? What are your thoughts on an Edward POV book?
