Brogan’s position on the Assembly is uncertain as rumours circulate that he is an exile spy.

After an attempt on his life, Farrell is more determined than ever to build a home for his people on Stone Haven. But the council have their sights set on Kalaya and Farrell struggles to steer them from war.

As trouble brews within and outside forces gather against them, can the exiles keep their hold on the magic, or will this spell the end of Kalaya and its people?

The Sentinel’s Reign is a heroic fantasy. If you like character-driven adventures then you will love The Sentinel’s Reign.”

pooled ink Review:

Thank you to the author for submitting this book for review!

I was happy to receive an advanced copy of the second book in the Silent Sea Chronicles! I really felt that Rogerson had a unique voice when it came to spinning tales of fantasy and this book continues in that vein of high fantasy goodness.

We pick up Tei’s story in this book and witness how life has already changed with the Sentinel found and taking her place in Kalaya. We also witness how certain characters must cope in the aftermath of the last book’s challenges and tragedies. While finding the lost Sentinel and restoring the island’s magic is wonderful and what the people have been long waiting for, it’s not all sunshine and dreams come true. In fact several enemies and unexpected obstacles arise from the shadows.

I still find the unique world-building and magic in these books to be intriguing. The astral plane and the way it is incorporated into the heart of these people and their story is a really cool twist that sits well with this genre of high fantasy. We get to see characters both familiar and new find their footing as their world continues to shift and watching how they evolve was a favorite part of mine.

This review is a bit vague I know but I don’t want to spoil anything by accident (as I sometimes do) but just know that if you’re a loving fantasy fan seeking a tale filled with adventure and magic then you should really give this series a try.

The Sentinel’s Reign breathes life into an island of magic as well as enemies thirsting for its power. Adventurous and unique this fantasy only gets more captivating with every turn.

Cheers.
