pooled ink Review:
Thank you to the authors for submitting this book for review!
I love a good mystery so this book had me excited to give these guys a try. Charlie & Tony might be an odd pair of teenage boys but their nose for mystery was exciting to read.
This book kicks off with a failed attack and unfortunately he just becomes determined to improve. Other than this startling event we’re temporarily lulled into the typical daily lives of Tony and his girlfriend Sheri. For a bit you’re almost wondering when the real exciting stuff will start when suddenly Sheri’s average American life is horribly shattered and Tony scrambles to find her. Desperate for answers but not exactly trained to be a detective, Tony runs into Charlie Wolfe and despite his better judgment he seeks an alliance with him and together they pool their skills to hunt down the psycho on the loose.
The pacing was pretty good overall. I love the little details dropped in here or there so that if you’re paying attention you’ll freak out like OMG THAT WAS HIM! HE WAS RIGHT THERE AND THEY DIDN’T KNOW! And I also appreciated how the story tried to do justice to the emotional rollercoaster triggered by such a sudden and tragic event. Some people are calm, some people are afraid, some people are erratic, and some just can’t stop crying.
What made this story really work was not only the unlikely duo of Tony and Wolfe but also the killer. The twists and turns between these characters kept the story in constant turmoil and intrigue until at last the truths are unveiled. Overall this book definitely caught my attention and I’d recommend it to mystery fans.
A psycho loose with the yearn to kill, an All-Star determined to avenge his girlfriend, and then their game begins as a Wolfe enters the fold. Along Comes a Wolfe is the start to a dark but exciting mystery series starring two boys willing to get their hands dirty to get the job done. No killer is safe when trespassing on their turf.
Cheers.
