So I’ve been reading books since I was a kid, I loved them before I could even walk, basically I’m your run of the mill bookworm. But I’ve oddly enough never joined a book club before. I didn’t even do Battle of the Books in school despite always scoring high for most books/pages read in class. I guess it was simply never something that really appealed to me? The most I do or have ever done is deliver an avalanche of my emotions and thoughts about whatever I’m reading lately to a friend who is politely (or sometimes genuinely lol) entertained by it. But now that’s changed… *cue dramatic music* (haha I’m kidding). Continue reading

Halloween Reads
Happy Halloween!!! To celebrate I put together a list of books and TV shows that feature all sorts of spooky Halloween classics! Maybe you’ll find something that catches your eye! Regardless of what you have planned for today I hope you enjoy it. 👻
(I will say though that since I’m not a fan of horror movies or the like that none of these will be too terrifying haha) Continue reading
Collector’s Editions! | Six of Crows & Red Rising
Today I decided to share my latest acquirements: the collector’s editions for both Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows (fantasy) as well as Pierce Brown’s Red Rising (sci-fi). I don’t really have the money to splurge on multiple editions of books but I loved these stories so much and the editions looked so lovely that I had to go for it. Keep reading for more on the books, my reviews, and sneak peeks into the bonus content included in these editions! Continue reading
NaNoWriMo 2018?!
Yep it’s that time of year again! November 1st is just around the corner and with it kicks off National Novel Writing Month where participants are challenged to write a little bit every day with the crazy goal of finishing a first draft (or at least the first 50,000 words) for a novel you’ve always wanted to pen at the end of the 30 days. Continue reading
BRN #26: If I Taught a Fantasy Class: Reading List
The idea for this post actually came from Heather (The Sassy Book Geek) and I thought it was such a fun idea that I wanted to create my own class reading list. So, if I taught a class on Contemporary Fantasy/Sci-Fi literature these are the 10 books that would be on my syllabus: Continue reading
BRN #25: Reading Indie Books
Indie Books: hidden gems or not worth the time?
I’ve always been open to reading books from any publisher, from the Big Five to the self-pub. In fact when I first began this blog over three years ago and was first contacted by self-published authors to read/review their book I didn’t think about them being self-published at all (it was still a relatively new thing back then anyways so I wasn’t aware they’d be different from traditional books) I simply was bowled over that someone wanted my opinion and asked for it directly. BRN #24: Bookish Eating Habits
They say reading feeds your brain (and soul) but I’ve been thinking about it lately and this really is a funnily accurate statement. Books are truly like food for the brain! Yes I mean that in the sense that you absorb information from them, you learn from them, you widen your world view via them, etc. But in an almost comical way they can also reflect our eating habits…sorta. 😜 Continue reading
BRN #23: Beginnings Are The Best Part
I’ve come to realize something. Well, I didn’t just realize it but I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. I’ve come to understand that to me, beginnings are the best part. With books, anyway. Continue reading
BRN #22: ‘Tis Valentine’s Day ❤
Babbles, Rambles, & Nonsense #22
Today is Valentine’s Day. A day for couples to celebrate each other and a day for singles to either cry into their ice-cream or seize the night in wild defiance. But as for my blog this year I’m just going to stick with the obvious theme of… Continue reading
BRN #21: My Fictional Team
So this is completely random but it’s something I’ve thought about before…often when there’s a really bad storm and I’m home alone in the dark wishing I had a fictional squad to swoop in and not let me die by a tree falling or something. And sometimes I ponder it when I’m bored or wishing life weren’t so mundane. But mostly it’s just something I like to play around with and think about for fun or on road trips. So I figured why not just go ahead and post this random little fun post? And feel free to join in!
Time to CHOOSE MY TEAM. Continue reading
