Today I decided to share my latest acquirements: the collector’s editions for both Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows (fantasy) as well as Pierce Brown’s Red Rising (sci-fi). I don’t really have the money to splurge on multiple editions of books but I loved these stories so much and the editions looked so lovely that I had to go for it. Keep reading for more on the books, my reviews, and sneak peeks into the bonus content included in these editions!

A glorious Collector’s Edition of New York Times bestselling, epic fantasy novel, SIX OF CROWS. Beautifully designed, with an exclusive letter from the author and six stunning full-colour character portraits. This covetable hardback with red sprayed edges is a perfect gift for fans, and a perfect way to discover the unforgettable writing of Leigh Bardugo.
Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker is offered a chance at a deadly heist: break into the Ice Court – a military stronghold that has never been breached – and retrieve a hostage whose knowledge could change Grisha magic forever. To succeed would mean rich beyond his wildest dreams – but he can’t pull it off alone . . .
A convict with a thirst for revenge.
A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.
A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.
Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Together they might just be unstoppable – if they don’t kill each other first.
pooled ink Review:
The story of Kaz and his gang and their impossible heist is dark, terrifying, horrific, thrilling, seductive, tantalizing, shocking, and always trying to kick soot over the tiny beating glow of hope.
Utterly thrilling, gut clenching, and skin tingling Six of Crows will have you mourn the price paid to be one of the six crows but your eyes will be glowing with the deep-seeded greed and lusting desire to join them.

Red Rising
RED RISING
(Red Rising #1)
Pierce Brown
Fiction | Sci-Fi
First Published January 28, 2014
Collector’s Edition Published October 23, 2018
Goodreads | Barnes & Noble
“I live for the dream that my children will be born free,” she says. “That they will be what they like. That they will own the land their father gave them.”
“I live for you,” I say sadly.
Eo kisses my cheek. “Then you must live for more.”
Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations.
Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.
But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity already reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.
Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity’s overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society’s ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies… even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.
pooled ink Review:
Red Rising is a book of war games – cold logic, clever schemes, and unrelenting brutality in the name of power and passed down beliefs – from start to finish. Running with a tide of red that fills its harshness with love, freedom, and a dream worth everything, keep your eyes wary and your fears hidden as you witness just the first crack in an empire’s reign. All it takes is one well-placed blow.

Haha that’s basically how I justified it for myself too! Plus it was just so pretty I couldn’t resist!
Red Rising had its ups and downs for me honestly but in the end I enjoyed it so I ended up caving and buying the collector’s edition. Once again pretty shiny things have successfully lured me haha! I’m so weak…😅
