Collectors editions.jpg

Today I decided to share my latest acquirements: the collector’s editions for Leigh Bardugo’s Crooked Kingdom (fantasy) as well as Sarah J. Maas’ books A Court of Thorns and Roses and Throne of Glass (fantasy). I don’t really have the money to splurge on multiple editions of books but I loved these stories so much and the editions looked so lovely that I had to go for it. Keep reading for more on the books, my reviews, and sneak peeks into the bonus content included in these editions! (Bonus: I’ve also included a look at Embers of Memory, the Throne of Glass card game!)

pooled ink Review:

“This book is bloody brilliant. Crooked Kingdom rises from the ashes of a double-cross and tips its cane in a lethal promise. Utterly riveting, juiced up on adrenaline, and guided by a brilliant gang leader, this book takes fantasy to another level leaving its readers in awe. If the mortality rate weren’t so high every fan would be lined up ready to join the Dregs.”

pooled ink Review:

“A book that I was afraid I’d hate but hoped I’d love, A Court of Thorns and Roses is a dark and twisted fantasy spinning the classic tale of Beauty & the Beast into something terrifying, sensual, and eerily captivating. Faeries and humans, blood and love, all ensnare your senses driving you further into a world that would like nothing more than to destroy you.”

Throne of Glass

This lush, one-of-a-kind edition of the book that started a world-wide phenomenon tells the sweeping saga of Celaena Sardothien who lives in a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand. Celaena is summoned to the castle-not to assassinate the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she will be released from prison to serve as the king’s champion.
The Crown Prince will befriend her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass-and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

Now available in an all-new, deluxe package, the THRONE OF GLASS COLLECTOR’S EDITION features a cloth slipcase with unique foil art on the case and the book cover, a ribbon pull, beautiful brand-new interior page designs, metallic endpapers, and a new map of Erilea.

pooled ink Review:

Throne of Glass is a story about a girl who once lost everything and now stands in rags with only everything to gain. A young fearsome assassin in the kingdom of Adarlan, Celaena will fight for her freedom and her fate shall unfold. Demons, kingdoms, and one competition takes her story on a brakeless ride with only perhaps a small space left for her heart to thrive. She stands so close to her freedom and yet perhaps the distance is teasingly far, an illusory finish line. Definitely a recommended read for any fan of fantasy. Warning: This series only escalates in adrenaline-rushing twists so be sure to have the set or else endure the torture of the cliff-hanger.”
