Squid Game finally brought the world’s attention to Korean dramas but, despite its popularity, psychological thrillers might not be for everyone so I decided to compile a list of a few (okay, maybe more than a few) shows that I’ve seen and enjoyed from various genres. They aren’t all K-dramas, but they are all very entertaining in their own ways so hopefully you’ll find something on the list to help dip your toe into an entire other continent of storytelling if you haven’t already. There’s so much you might be missing out on! And this is totally just my own opinion so you may or may not agree with my suggestions. For perspective, I’m a Mexican-American girl with a strong preference for sweet, happy endings and this list is of the shows lining my path into the world of K-dramas.
Blurb: “After serving as a British Army nurse in World War II, Claire Randall is enjoying a second honeymoon in Scotland with husband Frank, an MI6 officer looking forward to a new career as an Oxford historian. Suddenly, Claire is transported to 1743 and into a mysterious world where her freedom and life are threatened. To survive, she marries Jamie Fraser, a strapping Scots warrior with a complicated past and a disarming sense of humor. A passionate relationship ensues, and Claire is caught between two vastly different men in two inharmonious lives. “Outlander” is adapted from the best-selling books by Diana Gabaldon.” -Google Continue reading →
As I’ve been sorting through my very overstuffed bookshelves I’ve stacked piles of books to part with. I don’t have the space and these are all books I doubt I’ll read again anyway. But then it got me thinking…what makes these different from the books I could never fathom letting go? So, I decided it might be fun to figure out what I don’t like to read in books. So I’ve put together a list of about 10 things that are bookish turn-offs for me (in no particular order).
As I made this list I realized a) it included things that I also don’t enjoy in movies/TV and b) that I’m very judgmental towards books. Lol Continue reading →

Synopsis: “Taxi Brooklyn is a French-American action-comedy” police television show. “Caitlin “Cat” Sullivan is an NYPD detective working in Brooklyn. After her driving privileges are suspended, she relies on Leo Romba, a Brooklyn cab driver from France. Leo becomes Cat’s driver and a de facto consultant on her cases. While solving crimes with Leo, Cat is also running her own unauthorized investigation into the death of her father, an NYPD detective thought to have been executed by the Capella crime family. In doing so, she clashes with her boss, Captain Baker, and her ex-husband Gregg, who has picked up the case for the FBI.” -Wikipedia
Lead Cast: Damian Lewis (Crews), Sarah Shahi (Reese)
The NBC television show Life is pretty good! I’ve only just finished the first season but I look forward to finishing the whole show (after which I’ll hopefully remember to come back and add to this post).
IMDB gives a very brief description: “A former police officer [Charlie Crews] returns to the force after having been wrongly imprisoned for years.” Albeit brief ’tis accurate.
Lead Cast: Lise Baastrup (Hjørdis), Martin Brygmann (Gert), Ellen Hillingsø (Helle)
