Loki what excuse me

Have you ever read a scene in a book that mentions something like “he snaked his arms around my waist pulling me closer” or something to that extent?  Continue reading

BRN #7: YA Fiction | why i love it so

Banner_babbles rambles and nonsense_7.png

Young Adult (or simply YA) fiction has grown into something beyond a mere age-regulated genre. It has always held gems of literature but over the past few years in particular we have most certainly witnessed an explosive growth within and of this genre. I doubt anyone can pinpoint any one reason why but the greater point remains that it has.

YA encompasses every genre under the sun including fantasy, sci-fi, fiction, non-fiction, romance, paranormal, crime, mystery, history, thriller, and yeah every other genre that blooms on this here planet. While the protagonists remain in the teenage/young adult age range (hence the category title “Young Adult”) the themes transcend age and the messages strike intrigue and conflict within all.  Continue reading

Differentiating genres is irritatingly difficult sometimes. I rather think most people don’t care but I like boxing and labeling things nice and tidy so yeah, sometimes I care haha. Anyway, I decided to share how I personally breakdown and define different “umbrella” genres using my own words and opinions, because why not? Banner_babbles rambles and nonsense_4.png

There are times when my thought-streams puddle and pool together and I must babble and type them out to free up some mental space in my head. And yes okay now that I’ve written that sentence I realize how weird it sounds…cool. Onward!

Illustrating an actor as a “talking prop” is both infuriatingly belittling verging on disrespectful but also blissfully grounding.  Continue reading

BRN #3: Middle Book Syndrome

There are times when my thought-streams puddle and pool together and I must babble and type them out to free up some mental space in my head. And yes okay now that I’ve written that sentence I realize how weird it sounds…cool. Onward!

When it comes to a book trilogy you have a beginning (Book 1), a middle (Book 2), and an end (Book 3). But what I want to discuss this fine overcast morning is Book 2: The middle child of books.  Continue reading

BRN #2: The August Theory: August Doesn’t Exist.

Banner_babbles rambles and nonsense_2.png

Every once in a while I may post a random blog post about something random but probably linked to books or TV/movies or both as the description of this blog itself contains the word “babble.”

Today I’m finally venting on the utter confusion instilled in me as a child when I saw the first Harry Potter film and read the first Harry Potter book: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
